Guide Right/Kappa League

The St. Petersburg Guide Right/Kappa League (KL) is an organization oriented toward helping young men of high school age to grow and develop their leadership talents in every phase of human endeavor. It provides both challenging and rewarding experiences, which richly enhance their lives. It is the purpose of the St. Petersburg Alumni Chapter to help these young men achieve worthy goals for themselves and to make constructive contributions to the community, when leadership roles become their responsibility.

The basic concepts of Guide Right/ Kappa League may be summarized as follows:

  • To help youths, especially those of high school age, in the selection of courses leading to vocations compatible with their aptitudes, interests, and personalities.
  • To assist our students with their coursework, with initial employment, and mentoring their progress within their chosen field. To assist parents in advising their children by giving them opportunities to discuss their concerns with those who are successful in their chosen vocations.
  • To afford youths a respite from the drudgery of the streets through sponsored entertainment and cultural enrichment.
  • To inform youths of the values of higher education, of assistance available for continued educational pursuits such as: scholarships, loans, professional counseling, fellowships; and of various occupational and professional opportunities.

The St. Petersburg Alumni Chapter’s commitment to young people is well established, and our Kappa League efforts, both individual and collective, continue to serve as a mechanism to "inspire service in the public interest". Spend a day with a Kappa on the campus of University of South Florida , Career Development for the youth and the KL Step Team are three of our signature programs.
